Biography

Jacob was a Friend (Quaker)

Religion: Society of Friends (Quaker)

May 11, 1660 -- Jacob Lippincott [1] was born at [1] Stonehouse, Devonshire, England.

Jacob Lippincott could not have been born at Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, Province of New Jersey since his family was in England in 1660 & did not re-emigrate until 1665.

Jacob Lippincott's father was Richard Lippincott who was born on July 15, 1613 at Dorchester, Oxfordshire, England, and died on November 25, 1683 at Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, Province of East Jersey (now New Jersey). Richard Lippincott is the progenitor of all those claiming Lippincott ancestry in the United States. Circa 1639/1640 Richard Lippincott emigrated from Devonshire, England to ?? [1]

Jacob Lippincott's mother was Abigail Goody Lippincott was born in 1621 at Dorchester, Oxfordshire, England, died on June 2, 1697 at Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, Province of East Jersey (now New Jersey). On May 10, 1640 Richard Lippincott and Abigail Goody married at ?? [1]

Since there was no Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey in 1640, they could not have married there As claimed by [1]

In England Richard Lippincott followed the Society of Friends and was jailed for religious dissent. It was about this time that Jacob was born.

1665 -- Richard Lippincott and family emigrated from Plymouth, Devonshire, England to Rhode Island.

Richard Lippincott and family joined other English colonists in New Jersey. Jacob's family resided on Passequeneiqua Creek, a branch of the South Shrewsbury River, about a mile and a half from the town of Shrewsbury, in what was to become Monmouth County, Province of East Jersey (now New Jersey).

Richard and Abigail Goody Lippincott had eight children: one daughter (Abigail) and seven sons (Remembrance, John, Restore, Freedom, Increase, Jacob, and Preserved). [1]
