The baptism of a Benjamin Litchfield, son of John, on 23 Feb 1726 at Wavendon, Buckinghamshire, 13 miles from Elstow, might be worth investigating.[1]
He married Alice Simpson on 16 Oct 1752 at Elstow, Bedfordshire[2]. They had two children, Benjamin and Ann, both of whom died as infants. Alice was buried on 9 Jun 1755 at Elstow.[3]
On 12 Apr 1755 he was living in a tenement forming part of the Swann Inn at Elstow.[4]
Benjamin married Jane Larkin at Eaton Socon, Bedfordshire, on 21 Jan 1756 - "Benjamin, widower, of Elstow and Jane spinster of Eaton Socon".[5] Their son Benjamin was born in 1759.
He was buried on 22 Mar 1801 at Elstow, Bedfordshire, age 81.[6]
There are only 112 Litchfield entries in Bedfordshire on FamilySearch prior to 1752, and none in Elstow, so I don't think Benjamin was born in Elstow. The one in Wavendon looks interesting.
