Probate

Samuel died intestate and on 24 December 1767, his son, Samuel Litchfield of Scituate was granted the administration of his estate. His inventory was recorded on 26 February 1768 in Plymouth. It included an enslaved black woman. His real estate could not be divided so it was settled upon his eldest son Samuel, who agreed to pay the other children their share, viz., Experience Litchfield, Nathaniel Litchfield, Abigial Cudworth, Judith Damon, Deborah Merritt, Hannah Studley, Ruth Stoddard, and the heirs of Sarah Nash, decd.[1]

In 1769, an account of his estate by his son Samuel Litchfield was recorded which included the sale of an enslaved woman, debts paid, and administration fee.

I find it unlikely that Samuel married this Priscilla Vinal that was born in 1723. She is already tied to another Samuel Litchfield that was born in 1715, which makes more sense. If you agree please remove her as his spouse. Thank you. Teresa (WikiTree Arborist)
