Biography

David (Francis Jr., Edmund) b. about 1670; administration Sept. 1751; m. Mary Hill 15 Nov 1694[1][2]; m. (2) Hannah Hutchins of Arundel in about 06 Dec 1746.[3]

David and Mary and their son Nathan are said to be buried on the Harisekett Road in Wells (near the Branch River) and very near the Kennebunk town line. For a certainty grandson Roger (b. 1738 and his son Joseph (1787 - 1823) are buried there.

i. David Jr. b. 1696 (first four children bp. Wells July 20, 1697); m. three times

ii. Eleanor b. July 20, 1697; m. Daniel Morrison 1715

iii. Nathan ; m. Lydia Winn Sept. 23, 1724; c. 1777

iv. Mary probably b. c. 1704; had illegitimate child Ithamar^ in the summer of 1723 (court Oct. 1722/23); accused William Harmon who admitted to charge; child Ithamar bp. to Mary July 20, 1729; she later m. William Sawyer

v. Jeremiah bp. April 4, 1708

vi. Meribah bp. Aug. 20, 1710; m. Joshua Wells

vii. Tabitha bp. May 10, 1713; m. Nehemiah Littlefield (Dependence, Francis Sr., Edmund) see Littlefield Family Newspaper page 10 below

May 14, 1694 ...fifty acres of upland, at the Little River at Maryland, --- about halfway between the two falls ... together with the upper falls .... with liberty to build a saw-mill --- page 46 & 47

March 27, 1695 ... liberty to build a saw-mill at the Little River.... next below the falls granted to David Littlefield, Samuel Hatch, and William Frost, ... with two hundred acres of land page 47 [History of Kennebunk, Daniel Remich]

Noted: Little River is located in eastern part of Wells, Maine, near the town line. Maryland is the area of the town, located where the Maryland River branches off the Little River.

Records of First Church of Wells, Maine.

(III) David, fifth son of Francis and Meribah Littlefield, was born in Wells, about 1653. He was baptized an adult in July, 1707. He resided in Wells, and there reared his family. His children were: David, Eleanor, Nathan, Mary, Jeremiah, Meribah, Tabitha and Ithamar. Noted date of birth as 1653 is in question.
