Michael died 10 MAY 1720 in Ottery, St Mary,Devon,England[6][7]
Sourced Research
Birth
A Michael Lutton was christened with father Michael on 23 Apr 1615 in Ottery St Mary.[8] but that record is used for this Michael’s father. I could find no evidence of a christening for Michael in Ottery St Mary with the date 1 Mar 1647. It is possible that they are the same man.
Marriage
Michaell Litton married Joane (no last name stated) on 4 Apr 1670 in Honiton, Devon, England.[9] Honiton is 5.6 miles from Ottery St Mary. Another source for the marriage describes her as Joane Trinow and the marriage place Honiton on Otter, the date being the same[10]
I could find no evidence for a marriage in Ottery St Mary with date 1669.
Death
There are a number of burial records for Michael Lutton or similar in Ottery St Mary. Unfortunately, none have ages and none match the date of 10 May 1720 given in this profile:
20 Apr 1689 Michaell Lutton[12] [interestingly, this record has Michaell spelt with an extra L, the same as in most of the children’s christening records]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Michael by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Michael:
There are two generally excellent new articles about this Lutton family by John D. Beatty, C.G. in The American Genealogist, whole number 365 (Vol. 92, No. 1, 28-38) and whole number 366 (Vol 92, No. 2, 105-118). Serially, these are 2021 volumes, but in fact both were published in 2022, as stated on their covers. The article (in two parts) is titled "The Devonshire Origin of Caleb Litton of Frederick County, Maryland." Being devoted principally to the English records, it pretty consistently spells the surname Lutton. It debunks "Polleckfield" as a middle name for Caleb, or his mother's maiden name; and the second installment concludes with several generations of the real mother's Trenow(e) ancestry in Axminster (Devonshire).
I prepared a longer version of this comment with additional references that would help to unscramble some of the entries for members of the American family, under Litton-306 Burton Caleb Litton. He is ancestor of the large Litton family of Oneida, TN, of which my late wife was a descendant.
Lutton-86 and Letton-15 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. I adopted this profile while looking to add my ancestors to my ancestors. Things need adjusting, but it's obvious they are the same. It looks like the whole family needs to be merged. Can't have a bunch of the same people floating all over the place causing mayhem and confusion, LOL!
Lisa, What can be done to correct some problems with Michael Letton's identity? He is listed as Michael and Hannah's daughter, Thomas's sister, Johanna's wife and the mother for all his kids. Can we give him back his manhood?
