Biography

Cyril was born in Huddersfield in 1903. In the 1911 census his parents Phebe and John were living at 16 Lister Street, Moldgreen, Huddersfield and Cyril was 8, apparently the only child. In 1921 he was still with his parents.

He was working as a teacher in 1930 when he was mentioned in his uncle Hervey Haigh's will (Probate Record 1931) Details of his teaching career from 1923 are given in a Teachers' Registration in 1931.

The 1939 Register records him and his wife at 36 Daisy Royd, Huddersfield as an Assistant Schoolmaster and in an "Air Raid Precautions First Aid Post". Whilst no children are recorded there is a blanked-out record, presumably for the two children recalled by Leslie Haigh in his family tree prepared for his daughter around 1990.

He is mentioned as administrator to his cousin Gertrude Barr's (nee Haigh, daughter of Hervey) will in early 1965.

My father Leslie Haigh and uncle Ronald Haigh were in touch for many years.

Cyril passed away in Bournemouth in 1978
