Hugh Llewellyn was an emigrant from Wales who settled in Pennsylvania. No information has been found where he lived in Wales, or when he immigrated, although autosomal DNA suggests he was from Glamorgan in South Wales. It has been speculated he settled in Lancaster County, PA.
Mitochondrial, mtDNA, tests at FamilyTreeDNA by 2 of Sarah Llewellyn Price’s descendants, one from daughter Esther Price Hampton, and one from daughter Sarah Price Davis, are an exact match to 3 descendants of Hugh Llewellyn through his daughter Martha Llewellyn, born 1752 in Pennsylvania, who married Joseph Wofford in 1768 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
Two tests were an exact match with 0 genetic distance (i.e., no mutations), with one test at 1 genetic distance, or 1 mutation, on the Full mtDNA Sequence (FMS). This was further confirmed with matches by several Price cousins who are autosomal DNA matches to the mtDNA testers, plus one of their siblings.
Another exact mtDNA match at 0 genetic distance, was to a descendant whose MRCA (most recent common ancestor) was Margaret John. Margaret married Joseph Cunningham in East Nandmill Township, Chester County, PA on 31 January 1786. (Chester County is adjacent to Lancaster County.) A copy of their marriage bond was filed with Joseph’s Revolutionary War pension application W2787, which he executed on 27 April 1818 in Mifflin County, PA; DAR Ancestor #A028650. Joseph Cunningham died on 14 August 1838.
Margaret filed for a widow’s pension on 15 December 1838, while living in Tuscarora Township in Juniata County, PA, at the age of 78. Their daughter Mary was born about the year 1795, and in 1843 was referred to as Mary Conn in the pension application papers filed.
Margaret John Cunningham’s year of birth was 1760, so it is probable that her grandmother was Hugh Llewellyn’s wife, whose name was never mentioned by Rev. Benjamin Wofford in his writings.

"In the year 1752, there was born in Pennsylvania a daughter to Quaker parents, who, moving to Spartanburg District with that child…. She was brought into the Methodist Church…. That good woman was Martha Llewellyn, the wife of Joseph Wofford, and the mother of Rev. Benjamin Wofford, founder of Wofford College...in Spartanburg.” (J.B.O. Landrum, "History of Spartanburg County," pps. 107-108, citing Shipp’s History of Methodism)
