NOTE: On 27 June 1843 Margaret Lockard, 75, applied for a pension stating that she married Philip Lockard in 1787 in Amherst County VA, and he died 3 May 1843. Her application was supported by Wm. Lockard of Amherst County, aged 90, who stated that he recalled when his brother Philip Lockard married Peggy Grady two or three years before he, himself, married Susan Grady, Margaret’s sister. On 10 April 1855 Margaret Lockard applied for bounty land, giving her age as 95.[1]
