Biography

Genealogically Defined

John Locke[1] was born on August 1, 1661, in Woburn, MIddlesex, Massachusetts[2]. He was the son of William and Mary (Clarke) Locke. John married Elizabeth Plympton on May 31, 1683, in Woburn, MIddlesex, Massachusetts[3]. They had 7 children:

  1. Thomas, b. March 20, 1784
  2. Mary, b. April 1, 1785
  3. John, b. May 14, 1786
  4. Thomas, b. April 5, 1788
  5. an unnamed daughter, b. June 11, 1793
  6. Abigail, b. April 2, 1794
  7. Peter, b. September 10, 1798

Abigail was the only one of their children to reach adulthood and marry. Elizabeth died on February 23, 1720, in Woburn[4]. On November 30, 1720, in Woburn[5], John married Mary (Winn) Wyman, widow of Nathaniel Wyman. They had no children. Although no official record has been found, it appears that both John and Mary died about April 3, 1756, in Lancaster, Worchester, Massachusetts[6].
