David was born in either Mercer or Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He was married to Margaret C [last name at this time unknown] before 1840 [1] and had three children under the age of five at that time.
Sometime between 1850 and 1860 he and Margaret picked up and left Pennsylvania, settling in Yellow Springs, Des Moines, Iowa where he acquired a good amount of property valued at $4250 in 1870. The only children shown on the 1860 Census are Susannah and Robert. Elizabeth may have already married. Hannah may have died or perhaps stayed back with some of the family in Pennsylvania. It is unknown at this time.
If they followed the naming pattern, Susannah may have been Margaret's mother's name.
David died in 1878 at the young age of 71 and is buried at Round Prairie Cemetery in Des Moines County, Iowa. Margaret, his wife, is also buried there.
