OBIT: S. M. LOCKHART DIED MONDAY ~ Had been ill two weeks from concussion of the brain. Funeral in Minneapolis

Samuel Milton Lockhart, a resIdent of Litchfield since June, died Monday afternoon at the Lichfield Hospital after a lingering illness of two weeks from concussion of the brain. The body was taken to Minneapolis Tuesday morning and the funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the residence oF his son George Lockhart and were in charge of the Minneapolis Fire Department of which he was a pensioned member. Mr. Lockhart was born at Benton, Iowa, in March, 1855, and was 61 years of age at the time of his death. He was a member of the Minneapolis Fire Department and served actively for 26 years, retiring June 1st last to make his home in Litchfield. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Lockhart, and two children, George Lockhart, Captain of Fire Barn No. 11, and Miss Lulu Lockhart, both of Minneapolis. Mrs. Spillman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a sister and Mrs. Ethel Weber, of Spencer, Iowa, a niece arrived late last week to be at the bedside of Mr. Lockhart. While the residence of the deceased in Litchfield was very short, he had many friends who miss him and mourn his death. (Litchfield Saturday Review, 14 Oct 1916)
