There is definitely a connection to Caroline Lockhart Edwards It is unclear as to what the relationship is, but there is one.

1.In John Lockhart Sr pension record, there is a letter requesting info on him and a W. Edwards of Roane County, Tennessee...probably Sarah, his daughter's husband William Edward

2.Margaret Cox married Thomas Lockhart who died in the Revolution. She then married Robert Everett

3.William Edwards was also married to an Everett.

4.This is probably the record for Solomon Edwards married to a Mathews: http://revwarapps.org/w7080.pdf

I am not sure of the relation of Thomas Lockhart to John Sr, but it's looking like a brother. X-7424 08:18, 16 July 2015 (EDT)

NOTE: This information needs to be sourced. Found the Will record.

Story tells it that he [Robert Everett] and Thomas Lockhart were in Revolutionary War together and when Thomas was seriously wounded he asked Robert to return home after the war and marry his widow Margaret and take care of his son Charles Lockhart. Note: Refer DAR Patriot Robert Everett A037898

Robert Everett's father-

There are many stories about his early life some true an others merely rumor. He was supposed to have come direct from England about the time of the Revolutionary War. He came over as a stowaway. It seems to have been the custom then that when a stowaway was discovered on board a ship that at landing of such boat he would be sold to some person until he payed the fare or its equivalent in work. Mr. Everett was sold to a prominent Virginia family.

During his stay there he in some manner become acquainted with a Mr. Lockhart and lasting friendship was formed between the two. They decided to join the army with the understanding that if either did not return the other would bring the news back. Mr. Lockhart never returned. Mr. Everett according to his promise, returned with the sad news of Lockhart's death.

Some time later, Everett married Mrs. Lockhart and moved into what is now the Law's Chapel part of this County. Walker Everett lives on a part of the Old Robert Everett farm. [1]

POSSIBLY SAME THOMAS: "One such story that of Thomas Lockhart, my 6th great grandfather. Known as a Virginian but sometimes believed to have been born in London, his birth date is sometimes contested (as are many people of that era, usually due to conflicting historic records). Romantically, his date of birth is sometimes listed as July 4, 1742, and he fought on the American side of the Revolution.

The American Genealogical-Biographical Database at Ancestry.com confirms that indeed my Thomas Lockhart was in the Revolutionary War. I used the Saratoga NY Genweb site with Heritage Hunters to look him up, and wouldn't you know he was there? Interestingly, no state is listed for him as is for the other soldiers, which lends credence to the belief that he was born in England. He was a Private with Capt. William Henderson's company and Col. Morgan's Corp. from July through December 1777. A few years later he married my 6th great grandmother, a year later she bore him his only child (that we know of), and the following year he died."[2]
