Biography

William Lockhart is a member of Clan Lockhart.

William was born in Sep 1787, the son of a Church of Scotland minister, John Lockhart and Elisabeth Dinwiddie.^[1] He was baptized on 19 November 1787 at Barony, Lanarkshire but the following record was found at Cambusnethan:

"William Lockhart son to the Rev. John Lockhart, Min. of this parish and Mrs. Elisabeth Dinwiddie his spouse was born on the 28th Sept 1787."

He later served as a Member of Parliament for Lanarkshire from 1841-56 on behalf of the Conservative Party.

William died in 1856.^[2]
