Ruth Lockhart was born about 1845 in Lockhartville, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of Oliver Lockhart and Sophia Terfry.
She married David Bent on November 28, 1868 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.[1]
Ruth and David do not appear to have had children. The 1871 Census shows them with Ella Bent, age 99. The 1881 Census[2] shows them with Ruth's mother Sophia and three children named Porter. The 1891 Census[3] indicates the Porter children are niece and nephew. According to the reference provide below, these would be children of Ruth's sister Elmira, who married John Harding Porter, son of John Porter of Avonport.
The reference notes that an undertaker's bill was dated November 14, 1916, so the profile indicates her death occurred before that date. The same reference notes she is buried in the River Bank Cemetery in Hantsport, NS, along with her mother Sophia, so that is indicated as place of death.
