Matt was born in 1967 in Germany and has also lived in England, Scotland, Belgium and
since 2000 in Australia.
A biochemist by profession, he has been researching his family history for over three decades.
Matt collects, curates and publishes research and resources relevant to the LOHMEYER name family (Lohmeyer, Lohmeier, Lomeyer, Lomeier, Lohnsmeier, etc.) on his genealogy website www.lohmeyer-genealogy.info and on wikitree.
Matt lives in Australia with his wife, three children, two dogs and two laptops.[1]

Below is a list of some of the most interesting, intriguing and colourful projects he has worked on to date (alphabetical order):
Jane ANDREWS (1814-1889) – discovered and proved her true origin and role as foundress of the ANDREWS-GOULD family in Australia.
Albert Edward BRACKENREG's (1864-1922) – discovered the mystery behind Albert's court battle with the Railways Commissioner.
Herbert Leslie BRACKENREG (1876-1939) – assisted a Queensland cousin to discover her family connection with the Brackenreg family and in the process documented the life of an NRL Legend.
Una Maxine BRACKENREG (1893-1973) – unmasked the extraordinary life and creativity of a Sydney showgirl and actress who married a New York film legend, was a silent movie star, then married a grazier from rural NSW, and later a ship's Captain from San Francisco, at least if her own accounts are to be believed...
Ambrose CARTER (1785-1853) – traced his career and life journey as a private in the 4th Regiment of Foot who arrived in Australia on the William Glen Anderson in 1830.
Fairview Homestead – researched the history of Fairview Homestead above Mangrove Creek in the Hawkesbury area of NSW, Australia and established a freespace page entitled Fairview Homestead - Mangrove Creek
Friedrich Ernst HARTMANN (1847-1915) – helped an Australian family break through a brick wall and connect with their German ancestor and in the process traced incredible peregrinations across Europe by his grandfather Immanuel HARTMANN (1774-1846) and his family, who fought and survived the Napoleonic Wars.

Connect-a-Thon Apr 2024 (Wizards of Aus) — 152nd of 663 participants and 5th in the team with 145 of 1568 WoAus entries (9.3%). WoAus came 6th in Division II and 21st overall, 32 profiles ahead of the 'Southern Cross Stars' and 7 profiles behind the 'Mid-Atlantic US' in 20th place.
Connect-a-Thon Jan 2024 (Germany Genies) — 408 entries, 54th of 703 pax, 6th in team, GGs came 4th in the thon, 1009 profiles ahead of the Northwest Terriers and 83 behind the Legacy Heirs in 3rd - not that we're competitive...
Source-a-Thon Sep 2023 (Wizards of Aus) — 163 entries, 124th of 704 pax, 3rd in team, WoA came 20th in the thon.
Connect-a-Thon July 2023 (Germany Genies) — 322 entries, 57th of 774 pax, 7th in team, GGs came 4th in the thon.
