Daughters of the American Revolution
John Long is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A071268.

It currently is in dispute that the descendant list with a Jacob Long who is a son of Isaac Long, not John. NOTE: This does not mean that this John Long did not participate in the Revolutionary war, it just means that the person who actually submitted the original application used incorrect information regarding the descendant Jacob. It appears that the actual service record for John is not in dispute so I have added the DAR template and 1776 template. Long, John Jr is DAR Patriot Ancestor #: A071268 Notice: This line may not be used for Membership in the DAR: DATACF- Jacob, son of Isaac Long, not of John. 9-16-92 DH. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Linda, I added some info that I found...some of it brings some questions, at least regarding son Jacob, and the information for him. DAR indicates that Jacob was a son of Isaac? So does FindAGrave, but this is for you and others in this line to hash out. Not my Long line.  :)
