Biography

Zachariah Long immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Zachariah was born about 1630. He is the son of Robert Long and Sarah Taylor. He was baptized 20 OCT 1630, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England.[1][2] He immigrated to Charlestown with his family in 1635. The following year, his father founded The Three Cranes, a tavern in Charlestown, and operated it until his death. The tavern would remain in the family for nearly a century.[3]
