Biography

According to import information, JAMES Long was born 1610, Yawpim, Albemarle, Virginia. [This is not possible, Albemarle did not exist until 1744. Also 1610 is too early for any births in Virginia Colony. Birth place changed to England. (Strutton-11 15:56, 2 April 2023 (UTC))]

From The Colonial Records of North Carolina, it was found JAMES LONG resided in Albemarle County in Carolina in 1680 and Chowan Precinct in 1701. JAMES LONG Senr., and J A. LONG Junr. were among the petitioners of the inhabitants of Albemarle County in Carolina to the King 30 June 1680.[1]

The abstracted will of JAMES LONG of Albemarle County recorded:

November 24, 1678. October 7, 1680. Sons: JAMES, THOMAS and GILLES, Wife and Executrix: mentioned, but not named. Witnesses: JOHN WILSON, WILLIAM STANARD. No probate officer.[2]

"James Long, an early settler in North Carolina, was a resident of Perquimans precinct, Albermarle county, at the time of his death in 1682, and his will mentions sons James, Thomas and Giles."[3]
