Walter Long was born on 10 October 1793 at Rood Ashton, Wiltshire, England.2,3 He was the son of Richard Godolphin Long and Florentina Wrey.2 He was baptised on 18 November 1793.3 He married, firstly, Mary Anne Colquhoun, daughter of Rt. Hon. Archibald Colquhoun, on 2 August 1819 at Easter Kilpatrick, Killermont, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.4,3 He married, secondly, Mary Anne Bickerton Hillyar, daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir James Hillyar and Mary Taylor, on 15 April 1857 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England.2,3 He died on 31 January 1867 at age 73 at Torquay, Devon, England.2,3 He was buried at West Ashton, Wiltshire, England.3 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1812 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Wiltshire in 1835.2 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Wiltshire Yeomanry.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Montgomeryshire.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Wiltshire.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Wiltshire.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Somerset.2 He lived at Wraxall, Wiltshire, England.2 He lived at Rood Ashton, Wiltshire, England.2 He lived at Whaddon, Wiltshire, England.2
