Apparently Joseph died before age 10 as he is not on the 1860 census.
Elizabeth's age was mis-transcribed by Ancestry.com on the 1860 census as 17 instead of 12 but she probably was only 11 since she was not on the 1850 census.
By 1870 both Thomas and Sarah had died. Their children were in the 1870 hh of Rhoda (Long) and Joseph George Harrison. The ages listed are younger than they were based on the 1860 census. (Mary E Stephens 17, William H Stephens 17, Stephen C Stephens 15, Joshua J Stephens 14, John M Stephens 10, Sarah A Stephens 9, Vice C Stephens 1)
