Robert Long Jr. immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).
Robert Long Jr. was born in 1619. St. Albans, Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire, England. He is the son of Robert Long and Sarah Taylor. [1] Robert Long, at age 16, along with his father, stepmother and siblings, immigrated to New England aboard the Defense in 1635.[2] His baptism recorded in the St. Albans Abbey register was January 17, 1618-19.[3]
Robert married _______ by 1647, and his only known child was born at Charlestown April 23, 1647. (Some sources suggest Elizabeth Hawkins was his wife, which may not be correct. She may have married Nathaniel Long.)[2] Robert died before 1654 when his wife (Elizabeth [Hawkins/Hopkins] Long) married second Jacob Green at Charlestown.[4]
Robert died in Charlestown, Massachusetts by October 3, 1651 when the inventory of his estate was dated, referencing Robert Long, Jr. of Charlestown.[5] Torrey reported that he died before 1654 [6]

Conflicting info: Death Place Charlestown, Suffolk, Massachusetts vs., Barbados
Adams-16917 They are different Roberts. I think one is a line which went to MD, the other to MASS

"Some sources give the wife of Robert Long, bap. 17 January 1618/9 (PGM), as Elizabeth Hawkins, based on letter ... 6 October 1648 from John Winthrop to John Winthrop, Jr., .... reporting deaths at Barbados ... 'Mr Longe, who married Capt. Hawkins' daughter.' This was more likely Nathaniel Long."
For the 1648 letter, citing "WP 5:267," and for Nathaniel Long, citing "Aspinwall 100, 225, GMB 1577, 2041," Robert Charles Anderson, The Great Migration, Immigrants to New England, 1634-1635, Volume IV, I-L (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2005), 316-320 (Robert Long) at 319 (son, Robert Long); digital images by subscription, AmericanAncestors.
I started to respond to this, carefully cataloging. the profile that were reported under Massachusetts (state) Counties, but lost it when my internet reset. Suffice it to say, that there are several PGM slave holders reported under the Massachusetts (state) categories (not historically accurate).
While working on that, I updated the category added to Robert's profile so that it somewhat more accurately recognized that Charlestown was then in Middlesex County, Massachusetts [Bay].
