Research Notes

Adams-16917 13:59, 19 December 2017 (EST)

  • I find 4 Lemuel Longs in Sussex in this time period: the very first Lemuel was b. of Armwell in 1785. He married aft 1810 and had 3 children but do not have names or exact dates.
  • Then there was a line of 3 consecutive Lemuel Longs: the first in the series was b1844 (of Benjamin); this Lemuel b.1844 was the one who married Mary C Long (b1846 of Joshua Long). The first Lemuel was not designated Sr. but his son (b1878) was, because he had a son Lemuel who was designated as Jr. (b1915.)
  • Unable to verify Mary's middle name of C: Campbell?

(According to an email dated 20 Dec 2017 from Lloyd Matthews, another Long researcher of Sussex Longs, stated it was "Mary Charlotte Long of Joshua Long but this was another Mary C. Long who married John A. Clogg about 1865 and was still his wife when he died in 1915. She died in 1916."
