Pittsylvania Co VA Deed and Will Book 11, page 296:
"In the name of God, Amen. I Edward Long, the County of Pittsylvania being in a sore state of health, but of sound mind and deposing memory for which I thank God, calling to mind the mortality of man knowing it is appointed of God for all men once. Do devise, make, constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament. I first of all give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it me, and my body to be decently entered at the discretion of executors and as to such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of in manner and form following, that is: first of all my just debts to be honestly paid, secondly I give to my beloved wife Jane Long for her comfort so long as she do live and after her death the land and other property to be sold at the discretion of my executors and the money arising from such sale to be divided as follows: to wit: to be equally divided between my son Edward Long and my grandson Edward Long son of Thomas Long and my grandson Edward Long son of William Long and my grandson Edward Long son of James Long and my grandson Edward Maples son of William Maples and my granddaughter Jane Long daughter of Thomas Long, my granddaughter Jane Long daughter of William Long and my granddaughter Jane Long daughter of James Long and my granddaughter Jane Long daughter of Isaac Long and my granddaughter Jane Herman daughter of Reuben Herman and my granddaughter Jane Griggs the daughter of John Griggs and in case of any of the before named legators should die before they are of lawful age, their part is to devise to those that may live to lawful age, equally and I further give my daughter Elizabeth Long over and above what I have given her which she now has in her possession one cow calf of her choice if any there be and all the kitchen furniture and I further give to each of my children or their lawful heirs ten shillings over and above what I have here unto before given them to each of them and their heirs forever and I do hereby constitute an appoint my beloved friend, Robert Devine and Phillip Thomas, executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others or former wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred four.

John E Long 1755-1828 (married Delilah Elliott) is a documented child of Edward apparently by a previous marriage"
