Research Notes

The original heritage of Jeannie Long Jacobs is likely the most uncertain certain things in her descendants. The claim is that she was a full blooded Cherokee Princess, will we ever know for certain if that is true? Well the aim for her biography is to simply gather the evidence, and where that evidence may be challenged or correct or conflicts.

Many people hope that DNA will solidify this aspect, however the challenge is for many of us is that she is our 6th Great Grandparent, which we have about 264 of, and if we were to show Native American, to prove it is from her is a challenge. Many of us show none, but yet show "unknown" of some sort, but that is not proof that it does not exist, it is simply proof of the possibility of recumbent DNA, combined perhaps with a lack of empirical or conflicting research as many people who had Native American with white may not know, or may want that information hidden from the records.

If we can find an MTDNA descendant we will be in a better position to make a "stance" and decision on this as a whole, so my aim on this page for Jeannie is simply present the actual documentation that we find into one full picture.

We have evidence to support this claim on several descendant lines, not just one, so there likely is some "truth" to it, but where that truth may be we wait and see.
