Lucinda (Widow Piper) was born about 1735. Lucinda Long ... She passed away in 1800.
Her husband, James, was born in 1731 in Ireland and came to America with his parents before 1735. He was a surveyor in and resident of Bedford County, Pennsylvania, at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War.
He served in Armstrong's Campaign again Kittanning, and was on General Washington's staff at the Battle of Long Island, where he was captured by the British and later died in captivity.
Lucinda was one of the earliest residents at Fort Bedford.
Their son, William, born 1776, married Sarah Thompson. Their son John, born 1798, married Julia Fletcher and had a son, Thomas Fletcher Piper, who married Julia Dannaker in 1864. They also had a son, William R., Piper, who married Laura Hawkins in 1897. Their eldest daughter was Julia Piper Pate.
