She married Daniel M Simmons in Pike County, Alabama on 17 Jun 1852.[1] They were living in Jackson Parish, Louisiana by 1860. They had four children, all of whom were born in Alabama: Lenard, Eliza, John and Jane. Daniel was a farmer. There was another farmer by the surname of Harris living with them, along with a woman who was a "domestic" and her daughter by the surname of Callie.[2]
The family was still in Jackson Parish in 1870. Two more sons had been born in the interim - Willie and Luke. Jane and Eliza were also still in the home. [3]
Demaris was one of the heirs of her grandmother, Nancy Whaley Mills, and mentioned in Nancy's will.[4]
Demaris passed away in 1877 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.
