Biography

Minnie Long was born in October 1899 in North Carolina to Henry Long[1] and Lydia A. (Baucom) Long. Conflicting information has been found regarding her exact day of birth, 6 October on her gravestone[2] and 4 October on her Death Certificate.[3]
She was the second wife of C. Preston Helms, his first wife having died in 1934. The couple had at least five children, and possibly more, starting in 1936.[4][5]
Minnie Helms died 1 March 1976 in Oakboro, Stanly County, North Carolina.[3] She is buried at Oakboro Cemetery where she and Capes Preston Helms share a headstone with James D Helms.[2] James is one of Preston's sons from his first marriage.[6]
