Conrad was born in 1837. According to a family group sheet available here, he was the son of Daniel Long and Margaret Rodeffer. He appears on the 1850 and 1860 federal census in his parents' home in Rockingham County, Virginia. [1][2] In 1861 Conrad Long married Frances Baker.
[3][4] In the 1870, 1880 and 1900 census he is living with his wife and children in Rockingham County, Virginia, engaged in farming. [5][6][7] Conrad was also a Civil War Veteran, and his name appears on the Rockingham County Civil War Veterans List. [8] He passed away in 1909.[9] There is a very informative obituary on Find A Grave for Conrad that appeared in the Harrisonburg Daily News in 1909 at his death.
