Born on 17 Jul 1741 in Nottingham, New Hampshire, Elizabeth was the daughter of Jonathan Longfellow and Mercy Clark[1].
She married John Whidden in 1759 in New Hampshire. They had the following children:
Nancy (18 Aug 1760-1837)
Sarah Jane. b. 30 Jan 1763; d. Truro, Colchester, Nova Scotia, on 12 Aug 1779. Drowned at the Board landing in Truro (home of her grandfather).
James. Born on 14 Dec 1764.
David (7 Dec 1766-19 Apr 1826)
Elizabeth (15 Dec 1768-12 Jun 1816)
Abigail (25 Feb 1772-1842)
Hannah (29 Sep 1774-15 Jan 1813)
The whole of her husband's Whidden family moved to Nova Scotia in about 1760. John settled in Cornwallis, and was a leading man there. He was Justice of the Peace and Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Kings County.
She apparently was a very remarkable lady, full of charm and greatly beloved by her family and many friends.
Elizabeth died in Newport, NS, on 2 Jun 1830; she was 88.[2] The Allison Genealogy has the following note: "Mrs. Whidden (Elizabeth Longfellow) and her sister, Maria Longfellow, lie buried at Horton, N.S., in the very centre of the cemetery.
