Jonathan Longfellow was born at Machias, Maine, 27 Dec 1775, the son of Nathan Longfellow and Taphenes Huntley; ^{[1] [2]} died at Machias, 11 Jan 1861, and is buried in the Court Street Cemetery.^{[3] [4]} married (1) at Machias, 11 Dec 1797, Sarah "Sally" Boynton; ^[5] married (2) at Machias, 15 Nov 1798, his third cousin, Margaret "Peggy" Longfellow. ^[6].
