It was his wife Sarah who died in 1726 -- the way it was entered in the text in Descendants of Joseph Loomis in America, and his antecedents in the Old world page 134, looks as if it was John's death, but careful parsing of the sentence shows he died in 1715.
I hope the merge will go forward.
I have a hope that WikiTree can become a lighthouse for Loomis descendants, as our collaborate, source and merge protocols make it possible for WikiTree to sort out this complex, fascinating and very prolific family.
Loomis-1758 and Loomis-184 appear to represent the same person because: Please refer to the sources and footnotes on Loomis-1758, to see that these are indeed duplicates. The parents, and children, and one spouse, match one profile in Descendants of Joseph Loomis in America, and his antecedents in the Old world page 134 -- that of Deacon John Loomis, (1649 - 1715), son of Deacon John Loomis (1622 - 1688) , son of Joseph Loomis the immigrant.
Because the family is so prolific and because they carried family names to every generation, there remains some confusion among the Loomis profiles on WikiTree. The sooner we can identify and merge duplicate couples, the sooner we can sort out their children to the correct parents. Your help is appreciated.
