He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Massey Lopes, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Bertha Yarde-Buller.^[1]He was born on the 24th of March 1859^[1]at Tamerton Foliott, Devon, England.^[2]He married the Lady Alberta Louise Florence Edgcumbe, daughter of the Lady Katherine Elizabeth Hamilton and William Henry Edgcumbe, 4th Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, on the 10th of October 1891.^[1]at St. Germans, Cornwall, England.^[3]He died on the 14th of April 1938 at the age of 79.^[1]at Yealmpton, Devon, England.^[4]
