On 25 August, 1218, the bishop of Bath and Glastonbury gave the king a palfrey for having licence to marry Christiana who was the wife of Henry Luvel.[1]

LOVEL HENRY III Younger son and heir of Henry II Lovel and Alice Unknown, brother and heir of Ralph Lovel

Ralph, the elder brother of Henry, died without heirs of his body in 1206. Matilda Unknown, his wife, married as her second husband Ralph Butler and died 1219

[BOF, pages 56, 80] 1212. Somerset – Introduction. In the first section of the list, the sequence of the names and the amounts of the different holdings are almost identical with those given in the Pipe Roll of 1202, in connexion with the assessment of ' the third scutage,' though not copied directly therefrom. These are followed by certain other entries apparently derived from the assessments of subsequent scutages. In its present form, the list contains the names of Henry Lovel and Otes of Wanstrow, the successors, in 1206-1207, of Ralph Lovel and Geoffrey of Wanstrow, who occur in the list of 1202. UNKNOWN MATILDA Married [1] Ralph Lovel [2] Ralph Butler

Matilda Unknown, was the wife of Ralph Lovel, the eldest son of Henry II Lovel and Alice his wife, who died without heirs of his body in 1206.
