Posted on Findagrave.com: Laura Lovell Dye, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning (November 11, 1993) at her home. She was born April 16, 1906 in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of James Oscar and Eva (Hill) Lovell. In 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri she married Wilford Dye who preceded her in death in 1982. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Arthur Lovell. She is survived by one son, Pastor Charles Dye and his wife Nancy of Fort Madison, Iowa; one grandson, Pastor Richard Dye Sr. of Topeka, Kansas; one granddaughter, Lori Dye Maddox of Columbia, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Richard and Steven Dye and Audreyanna and Samantha Maddox; and one nephew, Kenneth Lovell of Kirksville, Missouri. Mrs. Dye was a life-long resident of Kirksville, Missouri, and attended the Kirksville public schools graduating from the Kirksville Senior High School with the class of 1924. She attended the Kirksville Teacher's College graduating in 1928. She taught elementary school at the Normal Mound School, East Elm Grove School, Troy Mills School, Sugar Creek School and the Novinger School. She also taught in the high schools at Huntsville, Novinger, Ridgeway and Livonia, Missouri. She taught school for a total of eighteen and one-half years. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center, Old Laughlin Hospital and Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri. She was also a dietetian [sic] at Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center for nine years. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program where she had over 2,000 volunteer hours. She enjoyed being of service to others. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (November 15, 1993) at the Fohn Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Graham officiating. Music will be provided by Pastor Richard Dye Sr. singing "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Still, Still With Thee," accompanied by Julia Mollick, organist. Burial will be in the Sabbath Home Cemetery, east of Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri. Pallbearers will be William Maddox, Kenneth Lovell, Richard Dye Sr., Walter Stimpson, Milton May and Richard Dye Jr.
