Research Notes

The following information is provided by Darlene (Athey) Athey-Hill: "Another site says: James LOVING was born in 1675. He had two sons and two daughters from one relationship. He then married Mary Blackburn in 1699 in Amherst, Virginia. He then married Hannah Seaton and they had one son together. He died in 1735 in King and Queen, Virginia, at the age of 60."

2021-04-02 For further consideration, Richard Jordan.

Note: The above biography is ambiguous about the two sons and two daughters from one prior relationship.

Note: The above biography states that James then married Mary Blackburn in 1699 in Amherst, Virginia. The above biography does not mention a child, Richard Loving, born 1690 in Powhatan, Virginia., son of James Loving and Mary Francis Blackburn. This implies that Richard was born 9 years before James and Mary were married.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Loving-140 and Loving-831 appear to represent the same person because: same name/dates/parents. Another site says: James LOVING was born in 1675. He had two sons and two daughters from one relationship. He then married Mary Blackburn in 1699 in Amherst, Virginia. He then married Hannah Seaton and they had one son together. He died in 1735 in King and Queen, Virginia, at the age of 60.

Thank you for your comment.

I added your comment and other information for consideration to the biography of James Loving-831. Now, this information and the integrity of this information can be evaluated when comparing profiles for the proposed merge.

Conflict: James married Mary Blackburn in 1699 in Amherst, Virginia, and they had a son Richard Loving 9 years before they were married.

These proposed mergers are puzzles.

Loving-831 and Loving-140 do not represent the same person because: I had allowed merges in the past and then had my entire family tree altered by another person. Afraid to allow more. Thanks anyway.

Jonathan, both of these profiles are for a James Loving. Are they the same person? They are attached to the same parents. You have no sources on this profile (nor does the other profile). If they aren't the same person, then one of them needs to be detached from the parents.
The name James Loving appears frequently.

Loving-831 and Loving-140 have different spouses and different children.

Hi Richard, I understand that. However, they are both attached to the same parents. And I'm pretty certain they didn't name twin boys by the same name. Also, men marry multiple times. I see the Geni profile for this man lists him with multiple wives. So my question remains to be answered: Are they the same person? Please provide the information from the source that you've just attached as to what it says about him and his wife (or wives) and children. And what sources does it give for the information? Thanks.
Thank you for your reply.

I know that at least one Profile Manager has the Loving Family in America source.

Perhaps you could add the sources from the Geni profile you are using as a basis for your suggestions.

So, I am going to defer your comment to the Profile Managers.

Hi Richard, I'm not related to this family. I was contacted by a person that is related and had inadvertently created some duplicate profiles (since I am a leader as well as a mentor and arborist). So I started researching them. I find very little information available regarding this man and his purported spouse(s) and parents. I am pointing out what is on these profiles (i.e. same parents and dates) and what is showing on other sites. The merge proposal shouldn't be deleted. Since someone has the source, the information supporting the shown data should be listed. Each of the two (probably duplicate) profiles has obviously seen mention somewhere of the spouse they have attached. That's what we need to know. Thank you!
Note: 2021-04-02. For the record, Darlene (Athey) Athey-Hill [Athey-67] added herself as Profile Manager and completed the proposed merge of Loving-141 and Sir Charles Loving-832, without allowing the 30 day policy for the Profile Managers to evaluate and address the merge. Thus, Darlene (Athey) Athey-Hill [Athey-67] completed the merge, but no longer appears as a Profile Manager.

Loving-831 and Loving-140 appear to represent the same person because: duplicates; please merge.
