Biography

Nancy LOVING was the youngest of the children of William LOVING and his wife Elizabeth Beverley HARGRAVE. Nancy was born April 13, 1785. She married John HARGROVE or HARTGROVE November 27, 1804, but she died within a year of her marriage.[1]

There is a John Hargrave with a son called Herbert Hargrave born sept. 1805. This could be her husband and she died after giving birth to a son

I think the big mix up is that William fathered a child with his wife Elizabeth Hargrave born in the 1740s and called Nancy and fathered a child with Patsy Hargrove born in 1763 and called Nancy Lucy Loving born 1789. Patsys father is Hezekiah Hargrove and his mother is Native American, hence the name change from Hargrave to Hargrove. when you reserch early american church records you can see the name changes all across the colonies of men who fathered children with Native Americans. I do believe that Hezekiah and Elizabeth are cousins and that Elizabeths parents are unknown at this time. This is why I am a DNA descendant of William Samuel Loving. Elizabeths parents could be Benjamin Hargrave B.1693-1781 and wife Lucy B.1710-1776. Benjamin died in North Carolina so some body would need to check those records

Loving-292 and Loving-240 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicates

the date of death is wrong she died in 1854 and was married to Elisha Abner. Ancestry DNA proves the tree to be correct. it makes better sense that Elizabeth and Patsy are 2 different people and that Nancy Loving and Nancy Lucy Loving are 2 different people. same father but different mothers
