Biography

The following is extracted from Eaton's History of Kings County, Nova Scotia:[1]

The Lowden family of King's County was founded by John Lowden who received his grant of one and a half shares of land Dec. 31, 1764. He was undoubtedly a descendant of Richard Lowden, who settled in Charlestown, Mass., in 1638, and became the ancestor of the New England family of this name, but his parentage we do not know.

Children:

  1. Jerusha, m. Jan. 18. 1781, to Abraham Knowlton.
  2. Thomas, b. probably in 1754, m. Rebecca Osborn.

(How many more he may have had we do not know.)

Birth

1720[2]

Loudon-209 and Lowden-36 do not represent the same person because: John Loudon (209) never lived in Canada.

Loudon-209 and Lowden-36 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person, based upon the marriage to Jean Campbell; I have no proof that John Lowden died in Nova Scotia, but made that assumption because the family remained there after his death. The surname was consistently spelled Lowden/Lowdon in Nova Scotia.
