Biography

Margaret "Peggy" Lowther, daughter of Thomas and Mary Coburn Lowther, born February 1796 and died August 18 1855 in Lewis County, (West) Virginia.^[1]She married William B Peterson December 23 1815 (request by father for license) and December 25 1815 was marriage bond between William B Peterson and William L Lowther, (her brother) in Harrison County, (West) Virginia. ^[2]

Research Note

In her father's will, cited on his profile, she is named as Peggy, as Margaret on both her West Virginia marriage and death records . This lends to some confusion since a Peggy Lowther married a William Peterson on February 10 1816 in West Virginia marriage records which is barely or not at all readable. The marriage record bond agreement on top of page dated December 25 1815 and on the bottom of the page is the warrant for license dated December 23 1815 cited in the Biography. Why would they wait to get married February 10 1816 is the question.
