Anna Marie “Mary” Loy was born in December of 1717 in Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz (Hessen), Germany, the daughter of Johannes (Joannis) Loy and (Annae) Christinae Strubel. She was christened in Sankt Ignaz, Mainz, Hessen, Germany on 13 December 1717. Her parents were listed on her christening record.
Mary came to America in 1744, landing in Pennsylvania. She married Johann Georick (John George) Scharp on 23 March 1755 in Chowan, North Carolina. They had several children:
Anna Maria “Mary” died in 1777 at the age of 60 in Orange, North Carolina. She was buried in Mount Zion Christian Church Cemetery in Cedar Grove Township, Orange, North Carolina.
