NOTE

William Henry Lucas had been a student in the University of Alabama, and a graduate in Virginia. He had been Editor of the Alabama Journal. He was very active in politics and a Whig. The Alabama Journal was considered to be a Whig newspaper. He was a member of the "Silver Greys" during the Civil War. Major Lucas died at his home on 24 May 1880.
