The Lucas farm was on 160 acres just west of Cordell, Oklahoma.
Clarence Lucas' nickname was "Kreit" (rhymes with kite.) He was a very short man with brown hair. He was a farmer who worked all the time.
After the death of their daughter, Thelma Hutcherson Lucas-2048, grandchildren Max Hutcherson-61 and Maxine went to live with their Grandmother Hutcherson Seals-55 , and Mr. Stewart. Mr. Stewart's daughters did not like Max and Maxine, so after several years, Grandmother Hutcherson told them she could no longer keep them, and they would have to go to the orphanage.
When Grandma and Grandpa Lucas heard about this, they decided they would take Max and Maxine.
Grandpa Lucas would plow the field around once, then stop under a tree and drink a glass of dark beer. He would repeat this all day. One time he became so drunk that he fell in the mud and could not get up. Max, who was very small at the time, had to help him stand and get cleaned up so that Grandma Lucas would not find out. [1]
Clarence Lucas is buried in the Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma. [1]
