On 13 Oct 1819, the town clerk of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), certified that "an intention of marriage between Mr. Ira Norton and Miss Martha Lucus both of Livermore hath ben [sic] entered with me fourteen days prior to this date and ben [sic] published in the Town of Livermore as the Law directs."[2] The 1928 history of Livermore says that she was a resident of Turner, Maine (then in Massachusetts).[3] They married at Livermore on 14 Oct 1819.[4]
Death
The gravestone of Martha Norton at the Riverside Cemetery in Willimantic, Maine, is inscribed with the dates 28 Feb 1797 and 22 Apr 1878.[5] She probably died at Monson, Maine, where she was living with her son America in 1870.[6]
