Biography

Thomas was born in 1861 in Ohio, USA. He was the son of William Cole and Mary E. (Hunt) Luckey. He was raised in Cincinnati. In his 7th year, he was baptized at St Peter in Chains Cathedral. ^[1] His father presumably died when he was young, as his mother remarried in 1869 to Albert Luckey^[2]. Thomas and his brother George were raised in their stepfather's home and gained several half siblings^[3]. ^[4]They both appear on the census records with the surname "Luckey" as children, but used the surname "Cole" as adults. When he was 24 years old, Thomas married Carrie Nelp.^[5]. They raised their 3 children in Cincinnati, where Thomas was a fireman. ^[6] Thomas passed away from pneumonia in 1906 and was interred at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati^[7]. ^[8]

• Thomas was born to William Cole and Mary Hunt but not baptized until 1868 , in his 7th year. hence the birth date of 1861. Specific date of birth calculated from burial record
• Thomas appears on the 1870 and 1880 Census as "Luckey" in his stepfather's household.
• In 1906 a Thomas J Cole died as was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery. Records give his age as 48 years and 4 days and his parents as William and Mary Cole.
• The burial record states the burial was ordered by Thomas J Cole Jr and that the deceased was a cousin of A Kirschner, lot owner.
