Biography

Baruch Lumet is Notable.

Baruch Lumet was born in Poland in 1898 and immigrated to the United States in 1920.^[1] His wife Eugenia Gitl Lumet (née Wermus) and daughter Feiga joined him in 1923.^[2] His son Sidney was born in Philadelphia the following year. He petitioned for naturalization on 28 June 1927.^[3]

In the 1930 Census, Baruch, his wife, and their kids lived in Philadelphia.^[4] Baruch was naturalized on 17 November 1930 in New York City, New York.^[5] His wife must have died between 1930 and 1940 because he appears with his children in the 1940 Census, living in Queens, and is listed as a widow. ^[6] He registered for the World War II draft but was not called up.^[7] Then Baruch married his second wife, Judith, on 11 Oct 1944 in Los Angeles and they had a daughter named Claire.^[8][9]

Baruch was known for many productions in the Yiddish theater scene of New York City, but he also appeared in several films and a few television series alongside his son, Sidney, who became a director. He also taught performing arts in Dallas. His entries on Wikipedia and on IMDb give a more full account of his career. Baruch died in Englewood, New Jersey on 8 February 1992.^[10]

• There are multiple dates given for Baruch's birth that need to be resolved. His naturalization petition says 22 May 1898 and his WWII draft card says 16 September 1898. Additionally, several records list his birth as Broda, and others as Warsaw.
