Biography

John Lundin or Lundie of that Ilk (fl. 1457 - 66).[1][2]

Parents

According to Lundy (2015), John is the son of:

  • Sir John Lundie of that Ilk,
  • and .... dau. of Wemyss.

Marriage

Lundy (2015), asserts that he married Elizabeth Lindsey.[2]

The following construction follows the work of Lundy (2015).[2]

m. (aft. 21 Jan 1434/5) Elizabeth Lindsay, dau. of John Lindsey, 1st Lord Lindsey of Byres.[2]
  • 1. Sir John of that Ilk (d. c. 1516), gov. of Stirling Castle.[2]
m. Elizabeth Forrester.
m. (1506) Sir George Dishington of Ardross (d. c. 1557), son of Sir John Dishington of Ardross & Janet Lindsey.[2]
  • Elizabeth[2] (living 1501/2).[3]
m. (1483/8) Andrew Wood, 1st of Largo, Lord High Admiral of Scotland (d. 1515/21),[3][4][5] poss. son of William Wood & Helen Arnot.[2][6]

Death

According to Lundy (2015), John died after 1496.[2]

Notes

Based on the known dates of children's marriage, the 1434/5 marital contract for John Lundy & Eliz. Lindsay seems to be made while they were young children (maybe soon after the birth of Eliz. Lindsay). It's possible they didn't start having kids until the mid-15th century (1450ish). If so, then 1418 would prob. be too early of a birth date for John Lundie, unless he had a previous wife ... but there doesn't seem to be any evidence for that.
Wood (1862), seems to name the following as children of John:
  • Christian.[1] -- Lundy (2015), asserts that her parents were Si John of that Ilk and Elizabeth Forrester, making her the grandaughter of John Lundie & Eliz. Lindsey. She m. John, 6th Lord Forbes.[1]

Lundie-45 and Lundy-379 appear to represent the same person because: same name, Lundy/Lundie, same spouse, death date correct, birth date ? same time frame, same location. the peerage has it Lundie, I am not argumentative. Gene Adkins
