Biography

Hannah Lewis was born in 1858 (or 1856). She was the daughter of Solomon Lewis (1830-1864) and Ann Pierce (1834-1922).

She married Abraham Alexander Calloway (1855-1927) in 1874. They had 10 children, per FS:

Mary Ann Calloway
Joseph Lawson Calloway
Albert C Calloway
Lasson Calloway
Lillie Mae Calloway
William Calloway
Martha Jane Calloway
Naomi Calloway
Zilla Calloway
Waits Dewey Calloway

They are recorded in Carter, TN with two children in 1880.

They moved from Tennessee to North Carolina before 1900, living first in Mitchell County and then in Avery County.

She died in 1920, of complications from Influenza, and is buried in Big Meadows Baptist Church Cemetery in Newland, Avery, NC.[1]

Research Notes

History: This profile was originally imported from a GEDcom as "Hannah Lusk" but this appears to have been an error. After adding sources, the profile was recreated as Hannah Lewis. Then a duplicate profile was found and that has now been merged. There is some confusion because her husband had children with another woman during his marriage to Hannah, but did not marry Mary Franklin until after Hannah's death in 1920. The children from this relationship had the surname Franklin, and there may have been other Franklin half-siblings from a different father.

Birth date given 27 Mar 1858 (FS) or 26 Mar 1856 (FG).

Still needed: 1870 census. Marriage record in 1874. 7 more children need to be added.
