He was a barrister and solicitor. He was a Member of Parliament who represented the Franklin electorate from 18 January 1876 to 16 April 1878, when he resigned. He was also an author, writing under his own name and as Owen Hall.
Hugh Hart Lusk was born on 28 August 1838. He was the son of Robert Lusk and Jessie Hart.
His mother passed away in 1841.
In November 1849 with his father and four siblings, he arrived in New Zealand, aged 11, on the Thames.
He married Mary Anne Butler in 1864, with issue eight children.
He died on 8 September 1926 at the age of 88. He was buried on 9 September 1926 at Purewa Cemetery, Meadowbank, Auckland, New Zealand. Location: Block E, Row 53, Plot 1[1]
