Biography

Malinda Amelia Luster was born about 1785 in Smith County, Tennessee, and she has been somewhat of a mystery. She married McInturff-85, Amanuel (Manwell) McInturff , in Carter County, Tennessee in 1802 and together they had one son, Wilson McInturff, McInturff-251 in 1804. Apparently things didn't go well for the couple because it's believed they separated prior to 1812. This belief is based on finding a marriage record for Malinda Luster and William Loving Hickerson in California, in 1813.

There may have been some disagreement as to whether Luster and McInturff were divorced prior to her marriage to Hickerson due to an 1816 affidavit sworn by JP Andrew Taylor, Carter County, Tennessee, that he did perform the marriage of Amanuel McInturff and Amelia Leaster in 1802. To date no divorce record has been found.

Regardless, Malinda Amelia marries for a second time to William Loving Hickerson in California in 1812 and together they had at least one son, Hickerson-100, George Washington Hickerson in 1813.

From a prior marriage, Hickerson also has a daughter by the name of Mahala Hickerson. She and Wilson McInturff (step brother and sister) marry in Illinois 1824 and together have six children.

Malinda Amelia's final resting place is found in the McInturff Cemetery, Hagerstown, Fayette, Illinois, along with a headstone that reads: This stone placed here in memory of Malinda Luster McInturff, 1785 - 1845 , Wilson McInturff 1804 - 1849, Mahala Hickerson McInturff 1809 - 1845, Who are buried in unmarked graves in a field 2 miles south of Vandalia, ILL

William Loving Hickerson passes away in 1860 in California, and it is unknown how long the couple were together, given that we find her in Illinois at her death in 1845, buried with the McInturff surname.

Luster-268 and Luster-113 appear to represent the same person because: Please accept the merge of Luster-268 into Luster 113, as they are the same person, first married to Amanuel/Manwell McInturff. Luster 113 should remain, with updated info from -268 and -268 should be eliminated.
