Agnes was born about 1725. She is the daughter of John Lyon of Brigton and Euphemia Young. ^{[1] [2]}

She married Dr William Rait of Anneston, Physician of Dundee, son of Dr George Rait, also of Anneston and Physician of Dundee,^[3] in Dundee on 4 March 1743. ^{[4] [5]}
