1. Portrait and Biographical Album of Dekalb County, Illinois: "JONATHAN LYON... was born in Shelburne, Vermont. His parents, Simeon and Martha Lyon had two children born in Pomfret, CT., and four in Vermont. This Lyon family did not remain long in Vermont, removing to Naples, Ontario county, New York, in about 1780. Elmina Lyon Joiner, daughter of Jonathan and Lois {Battles} Lyon, who were natives of Vermont and came to DeKalb county in 1836 from Naples, New York; settling in DeKalb Township, where they resided until their death. Lois Battles Lyon died in February 1839 and Jonathan Lyon in April 1850."
